There are several features which make Tennessee Log Homes the Natural Choice. One is our Product Quality. When comparing log home manufacturers and their prices, make sure you are comparing "apples to apples." Remember, you get what you pay for. The Tennessee Log Homes Premier Roof System features exposed beam heavy timber framing, 2-inch tongue & groove decking, and a vented insulation system.
Pictured below are components of the Tennessee Log Homes Premier Roof System.
The Premier Roof includes exposed beams and timbers from the forests of the Northwestern U.S. where sound environmental forestry principals are practiced. Tennessee Log Homes has elected to move up to Douglas Fir timbers in our roof systems. Douglas Fir is available now in all our roof systems.
High quality Douglas Fir logs are sawn into timbers.
The timbers are 100% free-of-heart for great stability. Only #1 Appearance Grade and Select Structural Appearance Grade are used. Timbers are stored in a rough-sawn condition and on sticks to allow air-drying.
The timbers are surfaced per order, cut to length and prepared for shipment. These timbers are used for the exposed rafters and rafter collars, the ridge beams, valley rafters and girder beams in the Premier Roof System.
Another standard component of the Premier Roof System is 2x6 tongue & groove roof decking. Yes, we use a 2-inch product where many competitors offer a 1-inch product. Moreover, we use Spruce/Pine/Fir "Premium Select" grade.
And our Premier Roof Insulation is polyisocianurate with a built in ventilation layer, similar to the picture shown above.
The insulation panel's ridges and valleys allow for important ventilation in the roof system. The R-value of the entire Premier Roof System layers exceeds LTTR-30.
